Parking is to be banned from an area of Helston for ten weeks while the pavements are replaced.

Although a residential road on which the majority, if not all, the properties have driveways, Osborne Parc actually provides important facilities - for the parish church.

Without a car park of its own, visitors to St Michael's Church frequently park in Osborne Parc, closest to the churchyard.

Be it for weddings, funerals or regular Sunday services, it is always easy to tell when something is happening at the church because the start of Osborne Parc will be lined with cars.

The church is also the venue for community events, such as the forthcoming flower festival from August 2 to 4, being held as part of the World War One commemoration event.

Anyone planning to attend an event at the church over the coming ten weeks will have to park farther away and walk, and should leave extra time to do so - but they are urged to continue to visit.

Not only does the church rely on its regular congregation to keep going, but events such as the flower festival take a huge amount of organisation and time from those involved.
