Falmouth Harbour Commissioners welcomed more than 70 students from Plymouth University who |are studying for a master’s degree in maritime business, to a lecture at the Maritime Museum.

Professor John Dinwoodie, who was also accompanied by lecturers from Plymouth University, led the event and also met members of the FHC Board. It is the third year FHC has joined Plymouth University in this collaboration.

During the students’ visit to Falmouth FHC board members and staff promoted Falmouth port and the services it offers to the maritime sector.

Dave Ellis, FHC chairman, said: “We’re very honoured to have had the opportunity to forge relationships with students from Plymouth University who are the future maritime managers and seafarers. We hope the group enjoyed the visit and the insight about FHC’s role.

“Without a doubt knowledge is our most important possession and we work hard at maintaining our relationships with education establishments to reinforce this. By continuing to transfer learning experiences into operational situations where |it is needed most FHC will |ensure it has most impact in helping maximise the future prosperity of port.”

As well as the guest lecture collaboration, Mr Ellis was recently invited by Plymouth University to join a select |group that joined Koji |Sekimizu, Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) on a tour of the university.
