The villagers of Budock came together to celebrate recently for the annual garden and handicraft show which was staged in the Village Hall.

The president of the show, John Wright, welcomed everyone and thanked them all for their hard work preparing the hall for show day. He also thanked Pauline Lord, the show's treasurer, and Pauline Chappell, show secretary, for all their hard work in preparing the hall and all members of the Budock Garden Show committee for all their hard work throughout the year

“The importance of the show is that it is wonderful for the community,” said chairman of Budock Show Robert Wilson. “It is a lot of hard work putting on a show, and the recent poor weather has not helped, but the show is an important get-together for the whole village. Everyone who lives in the parish of Budock, is a member of an organisation that uses the Village Hall, or has an allotment at Goldenbank can enter the show - so the more the merrier,"

The show was officially opened by Peter Fairbank, chairman of Budock Parish Council, who mentioned how wonderful everything looked, and thanked everyone who had entered. He also mentioned the importance of the show within the community.

Mr Wilson thanked all the new exhibitors, and remarked how fantastic it was to see some new names, not only entering for the first time but also winning. He also thanked the ladies of the WI who helped with lunch.

Unfortunately, the poor weather in the run up to the show affected numbers, with the vegetable and flower sections were both hit heavily by the weather. “Obviously, we are hoping for more entries next year to enable the show to continue,” said Mr Wilson.
