Carnon Downs Drama Group's annual seasonal offering this year is Little Boy Blue by Paul Reakes which provides all the fun and excitement of a traditional family pantomime.

An evil witch Halloweena, the "wickedest witch in the world" is exacting her revenge over Bessie Blue’s son Johnny and the mayor’s daughter Susie. Along with Fit and Fitter, the oldest retainers in the world, they have to battle against the odds before love can triumph.

Director John Frankland said: "I love pantomimes because they are basic stories of good and evil with a lot of added silliness. Pantomimes are the beating heart of amateur drama, all members whatever their age or experience, can be involved and it is a piece of theatre that can be shared with audiences of all ages making it a real family and community event.

"For some it will be their first taste of theatre leading to a lifelong interest and even a career, which is why amateur drama is so important to the success of British theatre."

Chairman of the Carnon Downs Drama Group, Esther O’Breagh, added: "It is that connection that the RSC has celebrated with its tour of Midsummer Night’s Dream including 14 amateur companies to play the parts of Bottom and the Mechanicals alongside the professional company.

"Carnon Downs is extremely proud to have been selected to perform at the Hall for Cornwall in May and at Stratford in July and to represent amateur drama across the South West."

Little Boy Blue can be seen at Perranwell Village Hall from next Thursday, February 18, to Saturday the 20th. There are performances at 7.30pm each night along with a Saturday matinee. Tickets are available by calling 08454 500 296.
