Children from Constantine School joined forces with staff from Coastline Housing and Coastline Services to transform some patches of land in the village.
The team helped to plant an area at Wheal Vyvyan with a large selection of wildflower seeds and seedlings, as well as a handful of cherry blossom trees. Once the flowers have blossomed, they will create a colourful display for local residents and a pollen paradise for the local bee population.
Emma Sutton, neighbourhood improvement surveyor at Coastline Housing, said: “We started this project following consultation with local residents about what they would like to see improved in their neighbourhood. Residents fed back that they thought more could be made of some plain patches of grass on the estate so we were delighted to partner up with Constantine School pupils to give these patches of land a spring makeover.”
As part of the same neighbourhood makeover, Coastline also installed 14 parking spaces at the request of residents to ease on-street parking issues.
Joher Anjari, teacher at Constantine School, said: "The children really enjoyed the opportunity to prepare and plant in their local area, and it helped them to have a sense of ownership of their village.”
