A body washed up on the north Cornish coast has been confirmed as that of a missing woman from West Cornwall.
June Gorvin, from Trewellard near Pendeen, had been missing for a month, after last speaking with her family on May 23.
Police carried out searches around the nearby cliffs and coastline, with the police helicopter plus teams from Land’s Ends, St Ives and Penzance Coastguard, the Cornwall Rescue Group and Sennen Cove RNLI inshore and all weather lifeboats also helping in the hunt.
On Wednesday last week, however, a body was discovered on Tregardock Beach at Delabole and yesterday police confirmed it was that of the 69-year-old.
A police spokesperson said: “The family of June Gorvin have expressed their gratitude to all who have helped in the search for June, including the cliff rescue team, lifeboat, police, coastguard, and the public for their help in this matter.”
A file is now being prepared by the coroner.
