A FUNDRAISING campaign has been launched to raise money for a mental health charity as well as fund a Mario Kart gaming event.

Organised by Jake Stevens from Tuckingmill in Camborne, as part of Royal Shell Esports (RSE), the fundraiser will entail a 13-hour gaming marathon with the appeal having already raised £200.

Organisers are looking to raise £1,000 which will be split between mental health charity, Mind UK, as well as funding the next UK Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (MK8DX) LAN Event.

On the event's Go Fund Me page, Jake said: "We’re big believers in encouraging positive mental health, as well as having a good support network that’s right for each person, which is why Mind UK is our chosen charity; they’re dedicated to providing all the necessary tools in helping anyone experiencing any mental health issues."

The donations towards the LAN event will help to fund all aspects of the event, including venue costs, paying for equipment, staffing, prizes, trinkets and the prize pool.

Jake added: "We want to provide a safe, fun space where players all over the UK - and the world - can socialise, compete and create amazing memories together playing our flagship game in MK8DX."
