A Helston florist says she feels a "weight has been lifted" after moving her shop to another location on the outskirts of town – with big plans for the future.
As previously reported in the Packet, Sweet Pea owner, Lin Turner, 57, announced in October that the business would be leaving Meneage Street and moving to Goonhusband Farm in Degibna Lane.
Lin made the decision to move the business after realising there wasn’t enough space inside the old building due to an increase in custom and the lack of parking for her delivery van and customers outside.
On Friday, the Packet visited the new premises and had a look around.
“I am so much happier here,” Lin told the Packet. “I feel like a weight has been lifted. There’s still some work, but we are getting there.”
Not only has the change made an improvement in her physical health, but it has also made a big impact on her mental health.
“In the mornings, I sit outside, look across the beautiful valley, and take in the sights. It lifts my spirits, and all the stress fades away.”
With more space for customers and plans for flower-arranging parties in the future, there will more places to park when farm owner Roger Benney creates parking spaces next to the building.
Lin said: “Parking in Helston was an issue for me. I would get abuse from members of the public saying I couldn’t park there.
“I remember one time, there wasn’t any available parking in town, so I had to carry these beautiful wedding flowers to the Trengrouse Way Car Park, and it was a worry I would drop them.
“Now, I don’t have to worry about parking issues. One customer waited outside in her car whilst opened the door and handed her flowers to her. It’s just so much better.”
As Lin makes the final touches to the new base, she has big plans for its future, including hen parties, flower crown-making classes and wreath-making, which will all be catered for by Lin's friend who owns a local catering company.
“Once we have made the final touches, I will be concentrating on events throughout the year.
“Starting with flower arrangement classes and wreath making, starting with Easter.
“There will be Easter flowers with little décor bunnies and other items related to Easter. In summer, I am planning on summer flower arrangements and door wreaths, and of course the usual wreaths at Christmas.”
