Staff at the Greenbank Hotel in Falmouth have dedicated their time to maintaining the  public gardens adjacent to the historic building.

With the spring sunshine peeking through the clouds, the team of volunteer gardeners from all departments, plus volunteers from ‘Friends of Greenbank gardens’, spent several hours on March 24 clearing up the scenic waterfront gardens.

The green-fingered gang spent the morning removing weeds and generally sprucing up the area for the enjoyment of the local community.

CORMAC provided the tools and guidance needed for the job and all volunteers were given lunch and a hot drink at The Working Boat as a thank you for their efforts.

Ben Young, Managing Director of The Greenbank said: “I’d like to thank everyone who volunteered their time for another Greenbank community garden clean. At The Greenbank, we are committed to preserving the beauty of our local community spaces and I look forward to similar ventures in the future.”

The Greenbank public gardens are a popular spot among both locals and tourists, especially during the summer when events such as the Tall Ships race and the annual Dragon Boat race take place in the harbour.

This initiative is part of The Greenbank's commitment to contributing to community and charitable causes. The hotel partners with the Cornwall Community Foundation and raises funds for grassroots organisations and community projects.

Last year, their pub, The Working Boat, also raised over £3,700 for local charities with their Sunday pub quizzes.
