A little community has had to pull together for the tenth time this year after heavy rain caused major flooding in their homes.
Yesterday a sink hole opened up in one of the back gardens at the hamlet of Little Treluswell off the B3292 into Penryn and today homes at the entrance to the settlement were flooded.
Inhabitants have pulled together and are providing those affected with tea and buns. Falmouth Fire Service have also been in attendance and is helping to pump out the homes that are flooded.
Residents say it is the tenth time this year that homes in Little Treluswell have been flooded. One of the residents said it was the third time their home had flooded in four days.
One of the residents told the Packet: "I feel is heartwarming is just how the community of Treluswell come together to help each other."
"As a community we have obviously sort help from the relevant authorities, but we have also taken direct action, cleaning drains, culverts and vegetation," said the resident.
"What I find particularly encouraging is just how this sort of miserable event galvanises people, they become social, they become more human.
"Today, with the fire services we assisted in the pumping out of the flooded houses, one octogenarian resident was serving flasks of tea and coffee from her car, another was unblocking drains with their bare hands.
"Everyone else bestowed a 'come on let's get it done attitude'. I think this 'community spirit' is amazing and something worth celebrating and preserving."
Residents say they have now experienced ten major flood incidents in the past six months with 3ft of mud and water in the living rooms of the cottages and say now the water has created a sink hole that may threaten the stability of the B3292.
