A spring clean took place across Falmouth last week, getting the town ready for the busy tourist season.

The Falmouth Town Team, a partnership between Falmouth Town Council and Falmouth BID, orchestrated the town-wide initiative, which saw the community come together for Spring Clean 2024.

They were supported in their efforts by several local entities, including Watson Marlow, Greenbank Hotel, University of Exeter staff and students, and English Heritage.

Local residents also made immense contributions to different facets of the projects.

The spring clean witnessed a myriad of public realm enhancements such as street cleans, graffiti removal, and the painting of over 150 bollards.

Street, coastal, and beach litter picks were conducted, with an overwhelming number of volunteers dedicating their time to assist the team.

Falmouth Packet:

Hayley Nicholson, marketing and events officer for Falmouth Town Council and coordinator of the spring clean initiative said: "We would like to thank everyone for helping out.

"It’s a true testimony to the positive, forward-thinking attitude that exists here in Falmouth."

Falmouth Packet:

Richard Wilcox, executive director of Falmouth BID also praised the community's spirit stating: "The strength of community spirit is very strong in Falmouth and as a Town Team, we look to work with as many proactive people as possible to get things done.

"It’s a challenging environment with reduced resources regionally for such schemes, so improvements will only be made, or opportunities realised, by thinking and working collaboratively.

"Doing as much as we can to ensure our community can thrive."

Similar clean activities are scheduled to ensue throughout the year, with a summer clean planned for May 8.
