A local singer and songwriter has released her debut folk-classical single written in the Cornish language.

Elizabeth Freeborn, raised in Mylor Bridge, has debuted Myrgh an Mor, which translates to Daughter of the Sea.

Ms Freeborn, raised in an environment rich with folk, jazz, and classical music, blends these influences in her exploration of intuitive Celtic singing.

Myrgh an Mor captures her love for the Cornish coastline and the profound sense of wonder she experiences in the presence of the sea.

Falmouth Packet: The full album is expected to be released in the summer

Ms Freeborn's debut single is the first song to be released from her upcoming album Emerald.

The album, spanning ten tracks, aims to immerse listeners in soundscapes inspired by the natural world.

Complementing her experimental song writing and vocal soundscapes, Emerald also features authentic nature recordings made by Ms Freeborn herself in Cornwall.

The singer also intends to introduce listeners to the historical Cornish language that is slowly but steadily reviving among the local populace today.

Her association with Wake the River also brought her in collaboration with Amy Woodburn, who acts as the producer for her work in Emerald.
