Police have revealed six people have now been arrested in connection with an alleged attempted murder in Helston on Christmas Eve.

The update came as two people previously confirmed as having been arrested answered police bail today (Monday). 

As previously reported police were called to Lady Street in Helston on December 24, 2023, following reports of an assault.

The victim, a man in his 30s was taken to Treliske Hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.

At the time, police said that a man and a woman, both aged 19 were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder during the early hours of Sunday morning. Both teenagers were released on police bail until today (March 25).

However, a statement today by Devon and Cornwall Police revealed that a further four people were also arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

A force spokesperson said: “Six people arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following an incident in Helston on Christmas Eve 2023 have had their bail extended while the investigation continues.

“A 19-year-old female and a 19-year-old male, both from Helston, have had their bail extended until 25 June.

“A 29-year-old male from Helston and a 20-year-old male from Perranwell Station have had their bail extended until 27 June.

“A 19-year-old male from Helston and an 18-year-old female from Falmouth have had their bail extended until 28 June.”
