It's Pirate FM final day today (April 16) as Greatest Hits Radio takes over the airwaves tomorrow with a brand new local afternoon show.

Pirate FM is set to become Hits Radio Cornwall on April 17 on DAB digital radio while Greatest Hits Radio arrives on FM across Cornwall, taking over Pirate FM’s FM slot.

Current Pirate FM presenters Scott Temple and Holly Day join Greatest Hits Radio legends Ken Bruce, Simon Mayo and Jackie Brambles as co-hosts of a brand-new local afternoon show.

The new show will kick off when Greatest Hits Radio officially comes to FM across Cornwall and the duo will be on air weekdays from 1 – 4pm.

We listened in live on Wednesday to compare both shows, as well as Rewind Radio, here: Cornwall's new radio station options - we listen in live to compare!

Scott Temple said: ‘Sandwiched between Ken Bruce and Simon Mayo – what a way to spend my day! Can’t wait to get started on Greatest Hits Radio and to keep everyone up to date with what’s going on in the Duchy. Hope you can join me and my brilliant co-host Holly for our first show.’

Holly Day said: ‘I’m thrilled to be joining Scott on afternoons on Greatest Hits Radio. We’re both looking forward to sharing all the local news and info – and of course the essential Surf Report – with listeners every day, alongside all those greatest hits from the 70s, 80s and 90s. See you soon!’

Redruth based Rewind Radio say the changes leave it as the only local and independent commercial radio station covering the whole of the Duchy, broadcasting exclusively from the county.

Daytimes see the 'No Repeat Workday' with Mark Dodson and two Retro Power Hours at 10am and 2pm.

Kath and Aimee will then accompany listeners on 'The Big Drive Home', navigating the evening rush with iconic hits of the 80s, 90s, and 00s.
