Georgia’s Voice based in Falmouth has announced that is opening a brand-new hub and café which will be based on the Ground Floor Cafe, Gateway Business Centre in Pool to support young women across the Duchy.

Chy at the Village will be a dedicated hub for women which offers emotional support, fosters connections, and helps to build a ‘tribe’ of support.

The Village Kitchen Café will open its doors to the entire community to create a space for everyone to enjoy food and drinks all while contributing to a worthy cause.

However, to get the project off the ground, The Village has launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise vital start-up costs.

Donations will go towards covering the first year’s running costs, including well-being workshops for young women. You can see the crowdfunding page here:  www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/lifesaving-hub-for-young-women-in-cornwall.

Georgia’s Voice explained why they hope that the hub will young women suffering from mental health in Cornwall, as well as ease hospital admissions.

A spokesperson said: “The hub will be the ‘home’ of our new space, a safe place for young women to come together and receive emotional support, make connections, build their tribe, their ‘village’ A place to learn new skills and discover ways to better deal with poor mental health days.

“With the support of our team of recently qualified Peer support workers, we hope to help save the NHS money by reducing hospital admissions in young women around self-harm and crisis, by giving them somewhere to go before they reach this point.”

To raise more awareness and funds, five women from The Village Kitchen will be taking on a challenge involving climbing three peaks over two days.
