A 'surf sober' weekend is coming to Newquay this summer.

The Headland will host the event on July 13 and 14, featuring ex-paratrooper, lawyer, and author, William Porter.

With a prime location that boasts views of Newquay's Fistral Beach and its own in-house surf school, The Headland provides a favourable backdrop for this wellness event.

The 'surf sober' weekend will be jointly led by Mr Porter and coach Dom Moore, who runs Surf Sanctuary at The Headland.

Activities over the weekend include surf, swim and coasteering sessions, along with workshops, informal socialising, and fine dining.

Dom Moore, who found inspiration to stop drinking after reading Mr Porter's books, expressed his excitement when the author agreed to co-host the event.

Dom Moore said: "I decided to quit alcohol a few years ago and read Alcohol Explained 1 and 2 to get the momentum going.

"They seem to be the 'go to' for the sober curious!"

Falmouth Packet:

He enthusiastically admitted to recommending the books to anyone showing interest in quitting alcohol.

His aspiration to run a sober surfing weekend saw him invite William Porter, who shares a mutual love for sea and surfing, to co-host the event.

He further added: "I’m expecting a mix of people who are non-drinkers for a while now and want to hang out at a weekend like this, some new non-drinkers who want a bit of reinforcement, and some sober curious who are wondering what life is like on the other side."

The weekend event begins with prices starting from £150 for the Saturday only and £210 for the entire weekend.

Limited places mean advance booking is essential for intending participants.

An exclusive 'Surf Sober' discount for overnight stay is available for guests.
