Camborne II 31 - 44 Penryn II
An inexperienced Penryn Saracens side, fielding seven Colts, recorded their first win of the season at Camborne on Saturday.
In a hard fought encounter which saw Penryn take the lead three times in the first half, but still go in 19 - 15 down, the mixture of youth and experience blended well and showed great spirit to emerge with a well deserved win.
First half tries from Josh Symons, Daniel Booth and Jason Jowett were all quickly matched by Camborne, who also managed two conversions to give them a four point lead at half time.
However when the Second Half got underway Borough upped the tempo and their more expansive brand of rugby proved too much of a handful for the home side and they ran in five unanswered tries over a 30 minute period in which they dominated.
James Millington pounced on a charge-down to get his first senior score, Daniel Booth and Josh Symons bagged another try a piece and Jason Jowett a further two to complete his hat-trick for the afternoon.
Jack Willey slotted two conversions to complete the scoring. Camborne battled to the end and scored two late tries to give a final score of Camborne 31, Penryn 44, which more accurately reflected the balance of play on the afternoon.
This was a good win for The Saracens against a very experienced Camborne team andwhilst Penryn's youngsters showed spirit and skill in stepping up to the challenge, the senior players also deserve great credit for their attitude and the example that they gave.
Penryn host Liskeard and Looe in their first home game of the season next Saturday, in what promises to be a good season for the side.
