GOLDS were struck at the Cornwall Bronze Badminton Open by Penryn College students Amy Walker and Sarah Frost.

The teenagers claimed the top prize together in the Under 15 female doubles before Walker secured first place in the singles competition too, which included having to defeat her doubles partner, who finished third.

They were able to put their friendly rivalry aside when teaming up with each other at the tournament held in Newquay and 13-year-old Walker, a year younger than Frost, said it was an enjoyable contest.

“It is better to play together than against each other,” she said.

“But if we do face each other, it is good as it usually means we’re both doing well.”

Frost added: “The matches between us are always friendly and good practise for when we work together in doubles matches.”

Next up for the pair is a tie with the Cornwall Under 17s against Devon later this year.
