A CHEQUE for £4,029 was handed over by Mile High Running Club members to Falmouth Hospital after the Penryn-based team ran between two castles in August.
The money was raised in order for the hospital to purchase a new Baxter Infusion Pump with runners taking part in an epic relay race starting at St Mawes Castle and finishing 54.5 miles later at Pendennis.
Going in pairs, the athletes had to cover hilly terrain going around Tregony, Tresillian, Truro, Playing Place, Mylor, Penryn before reaching the finishing line five hours after starting on what was the summer’s coldest and wettest day.
After raising the money, Barclays doubled the amount through their Matched Funding Scheme.
The club has thanked everyone who took part, fundraised or donated to the cause.
