FALMOUTH resume Jolly’s Drinks ECB Cornwall Premier League action on Saturday.

The scheduled programme was postponed last weekend due to Cornwall’s Unicorns Trophy semi final at Hertfordshire and Falmouth travel to third placed St Austell.

They currently lie in sixth spot but are only 29 points behind leaders Truro, who have a huge game at second placed Werrington.

Falmouth seconds upset the Division Two form book with an excellent home win over title chasing Paul.

The visitors made 163-9 in their 50 overs as, after Jacob Stephens and Dales Knowles reduced them to 31-4, they recovered through Harvey James, 25, Neil Pengelly, 32, and Tim Edwards with 24 not out.

Stephens ended with three for 37 and Knowles two for 11 from ten overs.

In a coincidence, Falmouth were also reduced to 31-4, but Mark Johnson, 60, and Liam Hoban, 43, added 83 for the fifth wicket.

Another four wickets fell for 42 before Knowles, 18 not out, completed a fine game and secured the two wicket win with five balls to spare.

Falmouth’s home game this weekend has been put back to August 9 due to Gulval’s annual tour.

Stithians lost by five wickets at Truro.

Coming in at 22-2, Callum Martin dominated the Stithians innings making 94 before being ninth out.

Kieren Webber and Chris Escott were the next best with 11 each in the 172 all out.

Truro’s top order produced the goods as Sam Wyatt, 32, Chris Farndon, 43, and Ollie Taylor-Jones, 43 not out, got them to 146-2 before three wickets fell for six runs.

Webber ended with four for 26 in a ten over spell and Stithians are at St Just this weekend.

The Division Two title hopes of Praze suffered another blow on Saturday when they narrowly lost a high scoring game at home to Camborne seconds.

Praze hit 246 all out off the penultimate ball of their 50 overs.

After losing Ben James, early on Tom James, 67, and Stuart Pethick, 62, put on runs for the second wicket.

Sam James weighed in with a useful 41 and David Hilliard, Jevon Nolan and Ben Tunnicliffe all got into double figures at the end of the innings.

Camborne passed the score with a ball to spare for the loss of six.

Ben Edwards set up the innings with 70 and Callum Moyle made 30 before Praze old boy Richard Moore hit 36 not out and Nigel Endean 31 not out in an unbeaten stand of 56.

Josh Thomas took two for 33 and now Praze are 18 points off the title chase.

Wendron’s hopes of topping Division Three got a setback, just two days after their Andrew Cup triumph.

They were swiftly brought back to earth being dismissed at Botallack & St Levan for just 57.

Without skipper Tim Kitchen, only George Whitbread, 20, and Ryan Mitchell, ten, got double figures.

They were all out in the 37th over with Rob Atkinson and Paul Angove sharing eight wickets and the home side only took 12 overs to record the win.

Mullion lost heavily by 169 runs at the leaders Goldsithney with Giles Lawrence made telling contributions with bat and ball for the home side.

Opening the innings he made 140 getting good support from James Stephens, 48, and Matt Lawrence, 77.

Ryan Tonkin picked up three late wickets, for 52 runs, in the 304-5.

Mullion were soon in trouble losing Jonty Wheatley, Dean Fletcher, Dan Johnson and Ben Johnson as James Stephens, three for 28, made early inroads.

Steve Green made 55 with Mark Hall, 12, and Tonkin, 15, supporting in the 135 all out.

Lawrence had the last say however taking five for 40 to complete a superb afternoon.

Leedstown won at Barripper on Saturday after making 141.

Andrew Robinson, 31, and skipper Luke Stuckey, 58, got them to 112-4 before the innings fell away.

Ty Hendra made 18 but Brad Ivey took four for ten off 11 balls at the end.

The home side were up against it after losing their first four wickets for 32 before Dam Wills made 34, but Alastair Cooper, four for 19, and Hendra, three for 44, bowled them out for 122 to give a fourth win of the season.

It was a good weekend for Constantine as they won their big top of the table clash at home to Hayle seconds by 107 runs.

They remain in second spot, three points behind Goldsithney, who hammered Mullion by 169 runs with the top five places covered by just 18 points.

After Jacob Johnson and Kevin Bosustow departed cheaply, Charlie Campbell, 51, and Griffiths took the score to 204-2, with the latter making 117, including nine sixes and nine fours.

Constantine lost seven wickets for 22 runs in the closing overs to Matt Lello and Andrew Gouldthorpe, but in reply only three Hayle batsmen got double figures in their 119 all out.

Griffiths staked a valid man-of-the-match claim with six for 39 from 12 overs while Bosustow and Joe Vanstone took two each.

A trip to eighth placed Botallack & St Levan beckons this weekend.

Perranarworthal’s promotion hopes suffered a setback with a nine wicket drubbing at the hands of Redruth seconds at Tredrea.

Perran lost early wickets and only reached 142 thanks to Andrew Shorten’s 30 with Chris Lovell getting 20 and James Coston 19 as Ryan Downing took five for 33.

The Reds cruised home for the loss of one wicket in just 27 overs, with Arron Wallace unbeaten on 68.

With Division Four leaders Penzance losing at home to Perranporth, St Gluvias seconds narrowed the gap to 25 points, following the 122 run win at Beacon.

Callum Hinchley made 67 and Colin Kruse 70 not out to get the total to 233-9 after the loss of three early wickets before Richard Bannister’s five for 31 saw Beacon dismissed for 111.

Porthleven gained their seventh win with a 67 run success against St Just thirds at Cape Cornwall.

A solid batting effort from the visitors saw them post 202-3 after Andrew Bonnett, 22, and Paul Combellack, 36, opened with a stand of 64.

James Dark made 25 in a 85 run partnership with Martin Duck, who went on to make 63 not out before Brad Bury got 28 not out.

Duck and Malcolm McDonald took two wickets each as St Just got to 135-6 in reply.

Number nine Martin Greenwood top scored with 35 to help Helston seconds to victory at Gulval to keep them in touch at the top.

Alex Stuthridge made 115 not out against St Gluvias thirds at Truro School to keep Falmouth thirds in third spot in Division Five.

Phil Hingston made 150 not out for Perranarworthal seconds as Mullion seconds went down to a 143 run home defeat.

Gary Pollard did make an unbeaten 78 however as they got 126 in reply to 269-1.
