PAUL Murray has said it is unlikely he will retake the Wendron United manager's job on full time despite the club's decent start to the season.

He jumped back into the dugout at Underlane just hours before the club's South West Peninsula League West campaign started following the shock departure of Stuart Massey just 72 hours before kick-off.

Since then, the side promoted from the Jolly's Combination League have won three of their five games, including a 3-1 victory over Illogan RBL on Saturday, and find themselves in the top half of the table.

Despite this, Murray, who had stood down earlier in summer due to work commitments, has stated it is doubtful he will be able to continue in the role, but will help out until a successor is found.

"I've asked the chairman Peter Thorne to get someone else to come in as manager," Murray told the Packet.

"I am not going to be able to do the job full time, although I would love to.

"But with my day job and the work I'm doing with the youth team at Falmouth, I simply haven't got the time to do it.

"Obviously I will help out as much as I can, but it is unlikely to be a permanent return for me."

He is confident the club can find someone decent to fill the vacancy, adding the side have put the traumatic end of their pre-season preparations well behind them.

Murray said: "When you think the side has won their last two games and three out of five, we are in the battle at the top really and have forgotten about what happened before the season started.

"We're probably not going to be in contention to win the league, but I think on our day with our best 11 out, we've got nothing to fear from anyone.

"This team is going to cause some upsets this year and the lads are starting to enjoy it now and are adjusting to the pace.

"It is a difficult time, but it is still the start of the season and getting some wins under our belts has helped and putting us in contention with a top half finished, so with that, the facilities here and the players, it is a good little project for someone to take over."

He added the club need "two or three" players to bolster their squad and said they are on the verge of signings.

"We have got a few players who are looking," Murray said.

"I think if we get a couple of new faces, it will strengthen the group, but the personnel we have already is still very good.

"They just have to keep those good habits coming and if they do, then they will pick up a lot of points."
