PORTHLEVEN won the first President's Cup match at Mullion despite trailing 3-0 after just ten minutes to their lower league opponents.

The cup, to mark the services of 90 year-old Dave Walden, who has been at Clifden Parc for 26 years, was contested in front of a healthy crowd who enjoyed no fewer than 11 goals on Saturday.

The hosts had the Fishermen reeling when two goals from Sean Haskell-Mills and a third from Nathan Davidson put them in command early in the match.

Port's new signing from Culdrose, Dan Hindmarsh, then scored twice to reduce the arrears and a Charlie Young penalty levelled matters before the break.

Haskell-Mills produced a splendid 25-yard strike which completed his hat-trick and put Mullion 4-3 in front immediately after the restart, before Young scored again and Hindmarsh scored the second hat-trick of the game to put the visitors ahead for the first time.

Port's Adam Patterson, another new signing from Wadebridge, came off the bench to make it 6-4 before Dan Tarrant headed home a corner to bring the curtain down on a brilliant afternoon of entertainment.
